SH15 or Second Half 1.5 is another one of my favorite Betfair football trading strategies and consistently provides long term profits
How does it Work?
With this strategy, you are looking for games where there is a liklihood of over 1.5 goals in the second half.
It doesn’t really matter how many goals have been scored in the first half, but you will still want to make sure there is enough activity such as goal attempts, corners, shots on target etc before entering the trade.
Also watch out for games where the favourites have already gone two goals in front, i.e. 2-0 as they may just shut up shop and not go for any more goals. Ideally there will have been one goal or more in the first half, so 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 etc are fine. In some cases even 0-0 is ok if the in-play stats are good and the teams have a history of scoring goals after a half time score of 0-0.
Entering the Trade
You will need to enter the trade at half time.
Once you have selected your game you will need to back Over 1.5 goals before the start of the second half. So if the game is 0-0 half time you will back over 1.5 goals. If 1-0 you would back Over 2.5 goals. If 1-1 you would back Over 3.5 goals.
So you just add 1.5 goals to the current number of goals in the game. You are looking for two or more goals in the second half.
Ideally you will want to find good value. I try to get odds of no less than 1.8, but ideally around 2.0 (Evens).
In play there is not much to do other than watch the in-play stats (or game if available) and wait for the first goal.
It’s important to keep an eye on the stats and try to judge how the game is progressing. Is the number of goal attempts, shots on target, corners, blocked shots etc increasing? If not, you may want to exit early and take a small loss.
If things appear to be going well, wait for the first goal.
Exiting the Trade
- If a goal goes in early in the second half you can Lay Over 1.5 (or whatever you backed) for the same stake. So if you backed Over 1.5 goals for £10 you would Lay Over 2.5 goals for £10. This will mean you will make a profit if you do get two goals or scratch if you only get one.
- If no further goals are scored on 70 mins, I will generally trade out for a controlled loss.
- If one goal is scored before the 70 minute mark, I will stay in till the end of the match and hope for a second goal.
